B.Tech Project Demo - PARK-IN Computer Vision Based Parking Management System (2017 - 18)
Topic: PARK-IN Computer Vision Based Parking Management System
Project Group Members: Sujith S.
Academic Year: 2017 - 18
Abstract
Parkin is a LAN and internet based vehicle parking
management and security system using computer vision and machine learning. The
system will be capable providing the users the information about the nearest
parking space to their destination and either book them online or use them. We
will be setting up a 360 degree camera and a secondary camera along with some
sensors to determine whether a parking space is vacant or not and send this
info directly to our local server placed inside the lot. This data will be
accessible through the local wireless network or the internet. Users will be
able to check, book or get to the parking spot using this. Once the user inputs
a destination to the website/ Application, It will show available parking spots
near the area (Like when someone books a movie ticket, it shows whether all the
seats are taken or not. In the case of Park-In, It shows all the parking lots
and the free spaces inside each of the Lots). And after selecting the required
spot, user will get a map and a navigation from the app/web site. We use
cameras for huge area coverage and for security reasons. Each registered user
will be able to track their car real time through our video streams. Users will
only be able to see their car and its surroundings. Also we will be able to
give a local area communication channel between parked vehicles and the
surroundings. This enhances the possibilities of communication between users
inside the parking lot and the nearest services easy and simple. For example,
if a person parked his vehicle inside a parking lot with Park-in network (PHS
based), he/she will be able to order a sandwich from the nearest store even
without internet or any internet charges. Or call for a car repair service
instantaneously. More features include the possibility of providing any empty
space to parking and generate income from it including private garages. Also,
finding a single available parking spot inside a big parking lot is a difficult
task.
